If you want to commit to a healthier lifestyle over the next 12 months, it can be tough knowing where to start. Fortunately, these three things will make a huge difference and get you heading in the right direction.

Drink more water. One of the easiest ways to make a big difference in the way your body feels is by increasing the amount of water that you drink regularly. The more water you consume, the better hydrated you are, the easier your blood flows and the more optimal your body’s systems run at. Whether you want to boost your metabolism, stop muscle cramps or just decrease the amount of sugary beverages you’re consuming, drinking water is a simple way to make a big difference.

Eat more veggies. Vegetables are packed to the gills with vitamins and nutrients, and they aren’t very high in calories either. Whether you start implementing salads into your meals or just snack on a carrot or celery stick here and there, the more fiber and greens you’re consuming the better.

Get good sleep. Do you always feel like you need a nap? You aren’t alone. In fact, it’s pretty common for people not to get eight hours of sleep each night. When you don’t get enough sleep your brain doesn’t function at 100% and it’s far easier to make mistakes or be involved in accidents. Stop staying up all night or binge watching your favorite Netflix shows. Commit to getting good sleep every night, and stick to a schedule.

Don’t let stress take over your holidays

34338497_SThanksgiving is upon us, and Christmas is just around the corner (can you believe it?!), so if you haven’t already started to feel the beginnings of holiday stress, you’re lucky. And holiday stress in particular can be a real bummer. It can cut into the joy and happiness these days bring, and on top of that, it can also make you vulnerable to illness. And who wants to have a cold on Christmas Day?

One of the best ways to neutralize stress is to plan ahead. Organization and planning requires some up-front work, but it’s well worth it in the end. You don’t have to be super organized to have a stress free holiday. A little organization goes a long way.

Making lists–whether it be for daily tasks, grocery shopping lists or Christmas gift lists–can clearly define your goals and give you a huge sense of accomplishment when you’re able to cross something off. Start with the task you dread the most and work your way down. Getting the hardest task done first makes it easier to get the other tasks done. Lots of holiday checklists are available online. One of the best parts of the holiday season is the joy it brings. Spending time with family and friends, eating your favorite foods and giving thanks for your blessings is what you want to remember. The last thing you want is to miss out on the joy of the season because you were too stressed out. Be sure to pencil in some time for the fun stuff like fall/winter activities, holiday parties and seasonal events.

Regardless of your preparations, stress can worm its way into your life in the blink of an eye. Don’t be afraid to take some time for yourself to refocus and reevaluate. Schedule a massage or a pedicure. Vow to dedicate time each day for meditation. Use retail therapy to soothe your stressed out soul. The list of ways to banish stress from your life is as long as the naughty and nice list.

No matter what holidays you celebrate with your family and friends, take the time to enjoy them. In 20 years, you don’t want to remember all the things you missed out on. Set aside some time for fun activities and enjoy what this season has to offer!

It also has more than 20 percent of the recommended daily amount of vitamin C, which helps boost your immunity. The vitamin A found in pumpkin can also help your body fight infections as well.
